A drink and drug driver who spat at a police officer and did more than £3,000-worth of damage to someone else's car has avoided going to jail.

Qasim Hussain, aged 30, was given a four-month suspended sentence after he was found guilty of multiple offences at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court.

Hussain, of Underwood Road, High Wycombe, appeared at court on October 14, where he was found to have assaulted a female police officer on January 12, 2020.

The court heard how Hussain spat at the officer during the assault in Chairborough Road. He also pleaded guilty to resisting a constable.

The 30-year-old was also found to have committed substantial criminal damage on August 1, 2020. The court heard how he did £3,258-worth of damage to an Audi A3. He had denied the charge, but the magistrates found him guilty.

To top it off, Hussain also admitted to counts of drink driving and drug driving. On August 10, 2020, he was found to have been over the drink drive limit while driving a Mercedes on the M40 between junctions six and seven. He also had traces of THC in his blood.

In all, Hussain was given a four-month sentence, suspended for two years, for his crimes. He must also complete a thinking skills programme.

He was ordered to pay £100 compensation to the police officer he assaulted and £2,500 compensation to the owner of the Audi he damaged.

Hussain was also given a three-year driving ban for drink driving.
