A devastating hotel fire in Stokenchurch started in the kitchen, fire crews have confirmed today.
The fire broke out at The Kings Hotel in Oxford Road at around 8.20pm on Friday night, with dozens of fire crews descending on the scene to try and contain it.
Bucks Fire and Rescue has confirmed that the fire had started in the kitchen but because of the age of the building, the flames quickly travelled to the roof.
By 9.55pm on Friday night, all guests and staff from inside the hotel were accounted for and safely out of the building.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established and a fire investigation is ongoing.
Engines and crew from across Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) and Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended, along with an aerial appliance from London Fire Brigade.
A total of 10 pumps were made available and four officers were on also on scene.
Bucks Fire and Rescue said: "The fire was deemed in control the following morning at around 8am however due to the extent of fire damage, age and structure of the hotel, there were several small pockets of fire that continue to burn, therefore an operational presence was maintained throughout the weekend.
"The cause of the fire is currently unknow and a fire investigation is ongoing."
