Residents have reacted to plans to build dozens of new homes in a High Wycombe field.
The land, off Horns Lane, “currently used for horse grazing”, could see ‘up to 50 residential units and 106 parking spaces’ built on it, if Bucks Council approves its plans.
Improvements will also be put in at the junction of Horns Lane with Cressex Road, including a “flared exit” from Horns Lane onto Cressex Road and the widening of Cressex Road to provide a right-turn ghost filter lane (for vehicles turning right into Horns Lane).

A new footpath alongside the highway to connect the development with Cressex Road is also proposed.
But some locals claim the current infrastructure ‘cannot cope’, that this will create “extra traffic”, that a development near a motorway is “unfair,” and that this is an “overdevelopment”.
Whereas others claim there is ‘not enough affordable housing’, and that homeowners know the risks of buying near an airfield.

“Council aren’t bothered, just keep approving,” wrote one. “More to be built with little thought for infrastructure.”
“The infrastructure can’t cope now,” wrote another.
“This proposed development should not be considered in isolation, as there are other proposed developments in the immediate area,” wrote someone else.
Adding: “All this extra traffic will block up the local roads considerably. It would be unfair to house people that near the motorway as there is no proposal to extend the motorway sound barrier, and they will be subjected to all the many aircraft taking off and landing.
“Aren’t there enough houses being built in High Wycombe? This all adds up to overdevelopment.”
“Another net carbon absorber replaced by a net carbon emitter,” wrote another person. “The authorities are really serious about Global Warming and net-zero carbon emissions, aren’t they?”
Someone else wrote: “The junction of Horns Lane and Cressex Road is already a bottleneck at times. A roundabout needs putting in place with road widening.”
‘Not enough affordable homes’
“Population is getting bigger, there are not enough affordable houses, people need to give themselves a wobble and realise,” wrote someone.
Adding: “It also always seems to be people who own their own house who object to new builds.”
“Should be a clause that the new owners can’t complain about the air park noise,” wrote someone else. “It’s been there for years and long before developers submitted plans to build near its runway.”
Indicative plans hint at a potential three one-bed, three two-bed, 33 three-bed, six four-bed, and five five-bed properties, in a mix of houses and flats ranging from two to three storeys.
The site would be required to provide 48 per cent affordable housing.
