The Bucks public have reacted with shock and frustration as drivers queued for fuel and petrol stations were forced to close due to increased demand this weekend.

Drivers have been filmed and photographed queuing up all around Bucks as they attempt to fill up their vehicles with fuel – and in some cases the police were needed to keep traffic moving.

Drivers around the UK have been queueing at fuelling stations after concerns over a potential fuel shortage were raised at the end of last week.

The government has urged motorists not to panic buy fuel as there is no actual shortage, just a shortage of lorry drivers, meaning garages are not receiving as much fuel as usual.

Queues in Bucks have caused traffic chaos, with multiple bus services cancelled yesterday due to the severe congestion in town centres.

Bucks Free Press readers have reacted with shock and frustration to the scenes. Commenting on social media, Faisal Shahzad said: “There is no national crisis of fuel shortage, social media is creating chaos. Earlier I saw two petrol stations with fuel tankers in.

Steve Douglas was badly affected by garages running out of fuel. He said: “Went to seven different petrol stations and all out of diesel, only one which is available is the Chinnor Co-op.

“Just got there in time with zero miles as all in Wycombe are out of diesel.”

Darren Gleadow questioned how the impact would affect emergency workers. He said: “How are ambulances supposed to operate without fuel?
