A newly-wed couple from High Wycombe decided to do something different when it came to their wedding gifts.
Ben and Sarah Rush, who tied the knot on August 7 this year, asked guests who attended their wedding to donate a sum of money to their Cancer Research fundraising page, to help those who are currently battling with the illness.
Their initial target was to reach £500, but instead, £3,218 was raised after singer-songwriter Sam Smith donated over £3,000 to the cause.

The act of kindness from the 29-year-old, who has achieved eight UK number ones since 2013, accompanied the donation with a card that said the following:
The local celebrity said: “Dear Sarah and Ben,
“Have a beautiful day.
“Be good to eachother.
“All my love, always.
“Sam Smith, xx”

Ben, who runs his own electrical company, Rush Electrics, said: “We were delighted when local friend and celebrity Sam Smith sent a heartfelt wedding card, and also matched our donation to our Just Giving page.
“We felt it had been such a hard year for so many, so instead of wedding gifts, we set up a Just Giving page and manage to raise £3,200 for Cancer Research.
