An Amersham pub has been awarded a Travellers' Choice Award.
The Hit or Miss, Penn Street has earned a place among Travellers’ Favourites in the UK for consistently earning great reviews from travellers.
The pub ranked within the top 10% of properties on Tripadvisor with the award celebrating businesses that consistently deliver fantastic experiences to diners around the globe over the last 12 months.
The pub’s manager Kirsty Cook said: “It’s been a challenging year but we’ve managed to keep customers interested while we were not allowed to have diners inside the pub with takeaway dishes for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day, a Village Shop for essentials, some pub favourites and themed outdoor hot food pop-up stands for Saturday walkers which were really well received.
"Some of these themes were; Sweet & Savoury Waffles, BBQ Food, Savoury & Sweet Pies, Bacon Rolls with veggie options too!.
"We also recruited High Tide Fisheries from Brixham in Devon to sell fresh fish outside the pub once a week which still remains. The pub is about as normal as possible now but it’s been a long time getting it that way.”
Kanika Soni, Chief Commercial Officer at Tripadvisor congratulated all of the winners highlighting the challenges the past year has brought.
She said: “Congratulations to all the winners of the 2021 Travellers’ Choice Awards.
“I know the past year has been extremely challenging for tourism businesses. What has impressed me is how businesses adapted to these challenges, implementing new cleanliness measures, adding social distancing guidelines, and utilizing technology to prioritize guest safety.
"The Travellers’ Choice Awards highlight the places that are consistently excellent - delivering quality experiences time and time again even while navigating changing customer expectations and new ways of working.
"Based on a full year of reviews from customers, this award speaks to the great service and experience you provided guests in the midst of a pandemic.”
