These are just some of the people who have been jailed in Bucks for carrying out violent attacks since January this year.

The level of violence used in some of these brutal assaults has had a life-long impact on some of the victims while others have been fortunate not to suffer lasting damage.

TWO BLACK EYES

Bucks Free Press: Dillon MorrowDillon Morrow

A thug who beat his female victim so savagely that she was left with two black eyes, a broken nose and cheekbones, a broken jaw and severe bruising was jailed for 20 years.

26-year-old Dillon Morrow had just got out of prison when he went to his victim’s home in Aston Clinton and tried to kill her in November 2019.

Neighbours were not sure what was going on and initially went over to ask him to keep the noise down, but they phoned the police when the screaming and shouting intensified.

Morrow, of no fixed abode, pleaded not guilty to attempting to murder his 37-year old victim, but the jury saw through his lies and found him guilty before he was sentenced on February 2.

“UNPROVOKED AND VICIOUS” STABBING

Bucks Free Press: Romario HaleRomario Hale

An 18-year-old from High Wycombe was jailed for six years and nine months after chasing and stabbing a man in the town centre in September 2020.

Romario Hale, of Hennerton Way, stabbed the man, who was in his twenties, multiple times. Fortunately, his victim survived but he needed emergency surgery for his wounds.

The attack took place in Easton Street, and Hale pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm and possession of a bladed article. He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on March 31.

Hale also had an accomplice during the attack – a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons. The boy was also sentenced to six years in prison.

Investigating officer Detective Inspector Gill Fox, based at High Wycombe police station said: “This was an unprovoked and vicious attack which occurred late morning on a busy street in High Wycombe Town Centre causing distress to members of the public witnessing this incident.

“The seriousness of this incident cannot be underestimated, and the sentencing reflects the gravity of offence committed.”

MACHETE ATTACKER

Bucks Free Press: Omar ZaheerOmar Zaheer

A machete-wielding bruiser who had a knife fight in the middle of a residential High Wycombe street was locked up for seven years and three months.

Terrified neighbours called the police when 21-year-old Omar Zaheer, of Bushey Close, slashed at his victim before driving away.

Zaheer struck his victim, who was also armed, several times on June 16, 2020, leaving him with two large wounds.

Following a trial, Zaheer was found guilty of causing GBH and possession of an offensive weapon. He also had previous convictions for assault and drug possession.

Judge Thomas Rochford, who sentenced Zaheer at Amersham Law Courts on April 29, said: “In my judgement you were looking for trouble, looking for violence.”

THE SMILING BRUTE

Bucks Free Press: Joseph CroweJoseph Crowe

A man was left with a broken skull after smiling Joseph Crowe savagely beat him in a Marlow pub.

39-year-old Crowe, from Brent, launched an unprovoked attack on a 24-year-old man in the Britannia Pub in Marlow on October 16, 2020.

Crowe, who looks cheerful in his mugshot, was sentenced to eight years in prison followed by thee more on licence after he admitted GBH and two counts of assault at Aylesbury Crown Court on April 28.

His victim was left with a fractured skull after the beating and spent several days in hospital afterwards.

Police described the incident as “extremely traumatic.”

RANDOMLY ASSAULTING PEOPLE AT MCDONALD’S

Bucks Free Press: Ian KeighleyIan Keighley

Ian Keighley attempted to get into several cars queuing at the McDonald’s drive-through in High Wycombe before moving onto the nearby Morrisons, where he threatened people with a knife.

The 50-year-old bruiser, of Marygold Walk in Little Chalfont, admitted to attempted robbery, criminal damage, assault and four counts of threatening behaviour with a bladed article.

He was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on June 9 for the crimes, receiving a four-and-a-half year sentence.

Fortunately, no one was seriously harmed, but he scared and injured numerous people who were just trying to go about their normal lives.

SLASHED ACROSS THE FACE

Bucks Free Press: Shaun LawrenceShaun Lawrence

Knifeman Shaun Lawrence was put away for seven years and six months after he slashed a man across the face, leaving him in need of facial surgery.

Shaun Lawrence, 38, of Eaton Close, Bletchley, was in an argument with his victim in July 2018, at around 2am.

Whipping out a concealed blade, Lawrence attacked his victim, slashing his face and leaving him with a six-inch wound. Although the victim has recovered, he has been left with significant scarring.

Lawrence was found guilty by a jury after he denied a charge of GBH and was sentenced at Amersham Law Courts on July 5.

Police officers described the attack as “appalling”.

“MOWED DOWN” HIS GIRLFRIEND

Bucks Free Press: Lakshmam SamarakoonLakshmam Samarakoon

Jealous student Lakshmam Samarakoon ran over his girlfriend in Amersham when he though she had been cheating on him.

Controlling boyfriend Samarakoon, aged 20 and from Pinner, was at a party with his girlfriend in Amersham in July 2020 when he accused her of cheating on him and took her phone out to the car.

After she chased him outside, Samarakoon got in the car and refused to return her phone. Instead, he put the car in reverse, backed up and then accelerated into her as she tried to run away.

His victim’s left leg was shattered, and doctors initially feared that it would have to be amputated. Fortunately, the leg was saved but she will be scarred for life and is unlikely to ever be able to run again.

Sentencing Samarakoon, judge Francis Sheridan said: “This was a wicked offence driven by jealousy.

“This was the worst decision you have ever made in your own selfish way. This was your girlfriend who you have effectively maimed for life.

“It’s not a knife, it’s not a gun, but it was just the same damage when you deliberately drive into somebody.

“It just shows everybody you can destroy someone’s life chances even at slow speeds if you deliberately mow them down.”

BREAKING A WOMAN’S JAW AND BURSTING HER EARDRUM

Bucks Free Press: Ahmed Abdul-RahmanAhmed Abdul-Rahman

Over a period of more than three years, Ahmed Abdul-Rahman made his victim’s life miserable, beating her on several occasions and leaving her with serious injuries.

The 33-year-old, of Granby Court in Milton Keynes, was found guilty of two counts of GBH, two counts of ABH and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour, all of which took pace between November 2017 and July 2020.

On one occasion he broke his victim’s jaw, and on another he burst her eardrum.

He got seven years behind bars for his violent crimes.

BRUTE TRIED TO KILL HIS PARTNER AND HIMSELF

Bucks Free Press: Anthony BignallAnthony Bignall

Anthony Bignall pinned down his long-time girlfriend, said “I’m sorry” and then pulled out a knife and began stabbing her repeatedly in the neck and chest.

Appearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on July 12, 38-year-old Anthony Bignall was given a 20-year sentence after he pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

The court heard how he had a knife with a 12-inch blade hidden in a carboard sheath made out of a cereal box. He had kept it concealed in his trousers while they were sitting on the sofa together in the afternoon on February 2.

When she called 999, the victim told the operator how Bignall had “gone mental”. While she was hiding in the bathroom, he attempted to kill himself by cutting his own throat and slashing his wrists.
