Residents have been left "horrified" by the state of dog waste bins in and around Tylers Green - fearing the stench is a "serious health hazard".
Overflowing dog poo bins in the Chepping Wycombe parish has become a major concern for residents, especially when the weather is hot.
Despite signs on the bins which clearly ask dog owners to take waste home with them if the bins are full, smelly bags of faeces are piled high, leaving frustrated residents questioning why the bins have seemingly not been emptied.
Alison Kemp said the dog waste bins at the entrance to Tylers Wood Common on New Road and the entrance to Kings Wood at the bottom of Kingswood Road are some of the most "revolting" examples.
She told the Bucks Free Press: "I do a lot of walking through the local woods and on Tylers Green Common and am horrified by the state of these bins – for months now they have been overflowing with dog waste… members of the public have attached bin-liners to one of the bins…but this too is now overflowing.
"The stench is appalling, particularly in the heat, and – in my view – it is a serious health hazard."
She added: "The Kings Wood one is particularly awful, this is the one where someone has tried to help by attaching a bin liner.
"I have contacted the parish office and they emailed me back to say that the contractor who clears the bins has been isolating with Covid – this is rubbish, as this problem has been going on for many weeks, not a few days.
"They said a week ago that they were trying to sort something out but nothing has been done."
Chepping Wycombe Parish Council said like other local councils, they have found it a challenge to get a new contractor to empty the bins but the issue is set to be resolved this week finally.
They said: "A number of residents have been in contact with us regarding overflowing dog waste bins, especially at Tylers Green and Flackwell Heath.
"Like many other parishes at the moment, we have faced issues finding a new contractor to empty these bins.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience that overflowing bins have caused to residents.
"The good news is that our new contractor will be starting this week and the bins will be emptied on Thursday at the very latest.
"We hope that this will resolve the issue but please do get in touch with us if there are any further problems."
