A High Wycombe man who called 999 when there was no real emergency has been jailed for several months.

Daniel Wickes, aged 55, of Tilling Crescent, has been locked up for a total of four months for the offence.

Appearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on July 5, the court heard how Wickes made calls to the emergency services “without reasonable excuse” and that there was never a genuine emergency.

By making the calls on July 2, Wickes was in breach of a criminal behaviour order which prohibited him from calling 999 in a non-emergency. The order was issued by Wycombe Magistrates’ Court in January 2020.

Appearing before magistrates on July 5, Wickes pleaded guilty to breaching a criminal behaviour order and was sentenced to four months in prison.

The magistrates stated that the defendant’s “flagrant disregard” for court orders and “previous offending” were aggravating factors.

Wickes was also ordered to pay £128 costs to the court.
