The Aylesbury Waterside Theatre has revealed their line-up for the 2021/22 season, as many big names are expected to come to town.

The theatre, like many others, has suffered tremendously since last March, but with a stellar rota of stars heading towards central Buckinghamshire, they are hoping to make up for lost time.

Feel-good phenomenon Hairspray will kick-off the season between Monday, September 6 to Saturday, September 11, and is in good company with Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 The Musical from Tuesday, September 28 to Saturday, October 2, which will star Louise Redknapp.

Young theatre fans are in for a treat when entertainment collides with history in Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain will arrive in Aylesbury between Wednesday, November 3 to Saturday, November 6, before a timeless tale is brought to life live on stage and direct from London (or should we say, Narnia,) with The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe.

That will be in town from Tuesday, November 16 and Saturday, November 20.

With Justin Live throwing lots of dancing and slapstick fun in to the mix on Saturday, September 25, and Santa’s Elves and The Shoemaker, which is in Aylesbury from Friday, December 17 to Thursday, December 23, will spread its Christmas cheer.

In need of a laugh? Back due to demand is the multi-award-winning smash hit comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong is in town between Monday, November 22 and Saturday, November 27, with popular names such as Rob Brydon (Saturday, October 16), Omid Djalili (Tuesday, October 19), Alan Carr (Sunday, October 24) and local lad Al Murray (Monday, October 25), will also be in attendance.

M is for music – and lots of it as the Waterside welcomes Scouting for Girls on Thursday, October 14, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis on Sunday, September 5, Fisherman’s Friends and OMD on Friday, September 17.

Familiar faces take to the stage too with Grayson Perry: A Show for Normal People on Tuesday, November 9, whilst the Sunday Times no.1 bestseller in Adam Kay with his This Is Going To Hurt tour arrives in Aylesbury on Tuesday, October 12, where he will share entries from his diaries as a junior doctor, and the UK’s funniest red head, La Voix back with her trademark comedy, cabaret and mesmerising impressions on Thursday, October 21.

In 2022, Groan Ups comes to Aylesbury between Monday, January 24 – Saturday, January 29, whilst Anton & Erin’s Showtime is in town on Friday, February 11. Martin Kemp’s Back to the 80s DJ Set takes place on Saturday, February 5 and the global phenomenon, We Will Rock You The Musical by Queen and Ben Elton will happen between Monday, May 2 and Saturday, May 7.
