5. PennFest makes a spectacular return as it celebrates 10th anniversary

Bucks’ biggest summer festival returned to Penn Street last weekend as Craig David took to the stage to entertain revellers alongside a host of other musicians.

The two-day family-friendly music festival celebrated its 10th anniversary this year and also saw the likes of Razorlight, Sigma, Ella Eyre, Peter Hook & The Light, Dreadzone and Republica perform for crowds.

Early bird tickets are already on sale for next year’s event, which is expected to take place on July 22 and 23.

4. Family's terror as scaffolding collapses on their car in High Wycombe town centre

A shaken father feared his wife and daughter were just minutes away from being killed after scaffolding in High Wycombe town centre was blown down on top of their car.

Jason Sykes said his wife and nine-year-old daughter had just gone back to their car that was parked on Priory Road after enjoying shopping and a milkshake in the town when the scaffolding crashed down onto their vehicle.

Thames Valley Police, South Central Ambulance Service and Bucks Fire and Rescue descended on the scene to assist.

3. Plans for new homes on former golf course in Bucks village unveiled

Plans for up to 350 new homes on a former golf course in Little Chalfont were unveiled.

Developers want to build the houses at Little Chalfont Park and Homestead Farm, on Green Belt land between Lodge Lane and Burtons Lane.

They confirmed they hope to build around 350 new homes, including affordable housing, a retirement village of around 100 new homes and a care home, as well as a school and nursery, community hub and valley park.

Plans are expected to be submitted to Buckinghamshire Council by autumn.

2. New homes on disused car park will be ‘beginning of the end of retail centre’

Controversial plans to build nine new homes on a disused car park in Flackwell Heath were voted down by the council – but the decision will be taken by a government agency.

Bucks Council agreed it is “minded to refuse” an application submitted by Revere Developments to redevelop the old car park, on Old Kiln Road – but having received a ‘non-determination appeal’, the matter is now in the hands of the Planning Inspectorate.

Plans detail the ‘redevelopment of the existing car park to include the construction of four semi-detached houses and five flats in a three-storey block’.

1. High Wycombe comedian dies ‘weeks after falling from balcony’

Popular comedian Paul Eastwood sadly died weeks after he reportedly fell from a balcony at his High Wycombe home – leaving his family and fans devastated.

Mr Eastwood was a seasoned entertainer who had been making audiences laugh for more than 20 years.

He tragically passed away in the early hours of July 28. According to reports, he fell from a balcony at his home around three weeks ago.
