It has been reported by Football Insider that former Burnley striker Sam Vokes is in ‘advanced talks’ to sign for Wycombe Wanderers.
The Chairboys, who are planning for life back in League One following their relegation to the third tier in May, are hoping to find a replacement for Uche Ikpeazu, who left the club this summer to join Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee.
If successful in signing the 31-year-old, it will be a massive coup for Gareth Ainsworth, who has already signed Oliver Pendlebury from Reading, Josh Scowen from Sunderland, Sullay Kaikai from Blackpool, and Adam Przybek from Ipswich Town.
Vokes, who joined Stoke City in a swap deal that saw Peter Crouch move from the Potteries to Burnley in January 2019, has struggled to find regular form for the ex-Premier League side, has he as only bagged 12 goals in 86 matches for the club.
Last season, he only scored once in 34 outings.
Will Sam Vokes be the perfect replacement for Uche Ikpeazu if the deal goes through? #Chairboys

Before his move to Stoke, he enjoyed the best spell of his career to date, as he scored 62 goals in 258 appearances for Burnley between 2012 and 2019 – which includes 17 goals in the Premier League.
