A traveller site in Bucks could be ‘extended’ to accommodate the needs of a ‘growing family’ – including the addition of a new dayroom.
WS Planning and Architecture, in Reigate, has submitted to Bucks Council on behalf of Mr John Smith a ‘change of use’ application for Field Farm, Spurlands End Road, Great Kingshill.
Plans detail the ‘conversion of the existing traveller site to accommodate the siting of one additional mobile home and one additional touring caravan’.

This will be for “one additional household only”, according to council documents, for which there is a “personal need”.
It also mentions the ‘conversion of an existing barn into a dayroom’.
Car parking will increase from six to eight spaces.

Planning history shows permission was previously granted for an additional mobile home on site, and later for two more caravans for residential purposes.
“Due to the growth of the site, the existing barn structure is proposed to be converted for use as an ancillary amenity building, commonly referred to as a dayroom,” a supporting statement reads.
“The conversion of the barn to a dayroom is considered much more suitable than the erection of a new building, which could be seen to change the character of the site.”
It adds: “I do not consider the site would dominate the nearest settled community, and is a modest extension of the existing site which is of an acceptable scale.”
The applicant is awaiting a decision from Bucks Council.
