People were asked to avoid a High Wycombe car park after concrete broke off from the structure and fell onto the pavement below.
Bucks Council officers were at the Easton Street car park dealing with the incident.
A tweet at around 12.45pm said: “We are aware of an incident at Easton Street car park, #HighWycombe and have officers on site.
“Please avoid the area. We will provide an update when we know more.”
Buckinghamshire Council was contacted for an update at 3.55pm.
In tweets at 5.45pm, the council confirmed the concrete had come away, with an urgent inspection being carried on on the site.
They wrote: “At Easton Street car park in High Wycombe this morning, a small amount of concrete came away from the structure and fell to the pavement below. Fortunately no-one was in the vicinity and there has been minimal damage.
“We are on site carrying out an urgent inspection to ensure the building is safe and as a precaution have cordoned off a section of the walkway in the area.
“It’s too soon to say what caused this but we are urgently investigating and obviously, public safety is our key concern.”
