A court date has been set for a murder trial following the death of a man in Aylesbury earlier this year.
Daniel Wisniewski, aged 45, has been charged with murder following an incident which took place on the towpath of the Grand Union Canal, in Aylesbury, on April 26.
The defendant is accused of killing Clive Porter, a 63-year-old grandfather and former police officer from Tring, in Hertfordshire.
Following a pre-trial preparation hearing which took place at Reading Crown Court today (Friday), a four-week trial has been scheduled by High Court Judge Justice Cavanagh for January 2022.
A further pre-trial preparation hearing is expected to take place in September.
Bail arrangements for Wisniewski, who is of Wharf Road in Birmingham, have yet to be made.
It is not yet clear if the defendant has pleaded guilty or not guilty to the charge.
During the trial Wisniewski will be represented by Tony Metzer QC, while Ross Cohen will represent the prosecution.
