Eight men played four rounds of golf in one day to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.
The group of eight friends in Cliff Kemp, Colin Dourish, Dan Fryer, Dan Thomson, Simon Thomson, Martin Steadman, Mark Collard and Alex Ridgeway started the ‘Big Golf Race’ on Thursday, June 17 at around 6am, on two separate courses, with the friends starting their fundraiser at Wycombe Heights, before moving to Harleyford Gold Club in Marlow.
According to Cliff, the event was ‘effectively a 20 + mile hike plus golf’, with each player hitting around 400 shots on the day, and with one of the group’s fathers-in-law recently being diagnosed with the illness, the 72-hole task was ‘poignant’ for the friends.

Cliff continued: “We are a group of mostly out of shape middle aged guys so it really was a challenge for us!
“The T-shirts we are wearing in the picture were donated by Karl Matthews and MM Design Studio in Marlow who also deserve a thank you as I’m sure you’ll agree we look pretty damn good.
“We kept it competitive (for our sanity) throughout the day and the eventual winner was Martin Steadman, who won three out of his four games but had to donate the prize of a t-shirt to one of the ‘smaller’ players.”
"The recently elected Mayor of High Wycombe, Andrea Baughan, also came down at 6am in the rain, to see us off and give some words of encouragement.
The initial target was to raise £2,000 for Prostate Cancer UK and so far, £3,220 has been donated to the charity.
An excerpt from the Just Giving page reads: “The money raised by this challenge will help fund research into life-saving treatments for prostate cancer and provide practical support to men and their families.”
