Former Prime Minister Tony Blair has endorsed the Labour candidate for the upcoming Chesham and Amersham by-election.
Mr Blair, who led the Labour Party from 1994 to 2007 and was Prime Minster for ten years from 1997, first ran as a parliamentary candidate in the Beaconsfield constituency for a 1982 by-election.
Slough councillor Natasa Pantelic was elected to stand for the by-election to replace late MP Dame Cheryl Gillan, who sadly passed away over Easter.
Mr Blair said in a video about Ms Pantelic: “Natasa is a fantastic local councillor, she knows what matters to local people, she’s going to do a great job bringing opportunities to young people, improving infrastructure and housing, and bringing investment to Chesham and Amersham.
“I hope you can go out and support Natasa and vote Labour on June 17.”
Peter Fleet is set to stand for the Conservative party, with the Liberal Democrats selecting Sarah Green as their candidate.
Carolyne Culver has been selected by the Green Party as their candidate, while Carla Gregory is standing for the Breakthrough Party, Adrian Oliver for Freedom Alliance. No Lockdowns. No Curfews and Alex Wilson for Reform UK.
