UPDATE: Body found in River Thames in search for teenage boy
Bourne End Marina has been cordoned off this afternoon with search and rescue teams at the River Thames looking for a teenage boy who reportedly got into difficulty.
Bucks Fire and Rescue and South Central Ambulance Service are searching the water, while a police helicopter circled overhead.
They were called at around 3pm after a teenager was apparently in difficulty in the water and was not seen to get out.
The river has been busy today as families and groups enjoy the Bank Holiday sun.
Although the river is favoured by many looking to cool off in warm weather, it does have strong currents underneath the surface and can be a dangerous place for swimmers.
Tragically, there have been a number of incidents in the Thames over the years.
Just this morning, the body of a woman was reportedly pulled out of the River Thames at Boulters Lock in Maidenhead at around 7.15am.
Last year, two men died in Cookham after getting into difficulty at Lulle Brook.
And tragically, much-loved Marlow schoolboy 13-year-old Kyrece Francis died while swimming in the Thames on July 22, 2014.
Thames Valley Police said there will be police and firefighters on scene while the search is carried out for the teenager. Crews were still there as of around 9pm, with more Bucks Fire and Rescue specialist rescue and underwater search and recovery units seen heading to the scene around the same time.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to Bourne End at 15:01 today to reports of someone in the water.
"We have sent to the scene, three ambulance officers, an ambulance crew and our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) who have been working in partnership with other agencies at the scene to search the area."
