Frogfest is returning to High Wycombe town centre for a bumper Bank Holiday weekend of music and events.

High Wycombe town centre will be alive with music and entertainment as it returns from Saturday, May 29, to Monday, May 31, for the eighth year.

It was sadly called off in 2020 because of Covid-19, but it is back and better than ever with boutique craft stalls, circus workshops, globe-trotting food markets and live musical performances between 12pm and 5pm each day.

The traditional Frogfest main stage will return to the High Street, with live music across the weekend from more than 16 local artists, including steel pans, acoustic guitarists, dhol drummers, pianists and more in a line-up curated by the town's own Mad Squirrel Brewery.

Frogmoor will be playing host to the first ‘Frogfest Musical Cinema’, featuring live screenings from popular musicians – from Britney, to Elvis and beyond.

Each evening from 5pm, a blockbuster movie will also be screened, with Mamma Mia on May 29, The Greatest Showman on May 30 and Marry Poppins Returns on May 31.

Pauls Row will be playing its part too, as the first ‘Live After Five’ performances take place on Saturday and Sunday evening between 5pm and 8pm, with two local acts performing as a backdrop to some long awaited al fresco summer dining, courtesy of the Pauls Row restaurants who can now expand outdoors onto their pavements thanks to recent road closures.

Sunday and Monday will see a pop-up craft market on the High Street from 12pm to 5pm, as well as a collection of tasty food trucks, including the popular Began’s and Barbarian Grill’s new flaming red BBQ Smoker Truck.

Melanie Williams, chief executive of HWBidCo - organisers of High Wycombe’s annual ‘Frogfest’ – is pleased to see a return of the popular event.

She said: “Whilst we’ve been careful to space out the activity and entertainment, and stagger the crowds in line with Covid rules, we’re delighted to be able to bring the eighth annual Frogfest back to the town, albeit it in a new format.

"It’s great to be able to welcome visitors to the town centre once more, and it’ll provide crucial support to all our local businesses, as well as celebrate local performers and pop up shops. We’ve even managed to arrange the weather – it’s set to be a fantastic weekend.”

Wycombe Arts Centre in Desborough Road and The Flint Cottage Pub on Amersham Hill will also be turning up the tunes this weekend with their own music events.

The Flint Cottage will welcome a trio of musicians from 3pm on Sunday, May 30, whilst Wycombe Arts Centre will be hosting live music events in their garden on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
