The new mayor of High Wycombe has been announced.
Cllr Andrea Baughan, who was re-elected in the Ryemead and Micklefield ward in the Buckinghamshire Council elections, will take on the prestigious role for the next year.
She will be formally elected at the Charter Trustees of High Wycombe's annual general meeting on June 12.
Cllr Lesley Clarke OBE and Cllr Nabeela Rana will be the mayor's consort.
Andrea was born in Lancaster but the family moved down to Hazlemere in 1971 where she and her sister attended local schools in Holmer Green.
After A-levels at Bucks College (now Bucks New University), Andrea worked as a Residential Social Worker with adolescents and worked with friends to organise Wycombe’s first Green Festival on the Rye.
She then went on to work for the National Trust for ten years before relocating to Bournemouth for a while and working at an advertising agency.
Moving back to Wycombe after having her second baby, Andrea met Matt and started getting involved in community work.
Andrea now lives in the Ryemead area with her partner and three children who all attend The Beaconsfield School.
She works at Stoke Mandeville Hospital as a maternity care worker.
Cllr Baughan says she is "delighted and honoured" to have been selected as mayor for 2021/22.
She takes over the role from Cllr Maz Hussain, who served as mayor for two years as the coronavirus pandemic disrupted the process of electing a new representative in 2020.
