A burglar who broke into a number of houses in Lane End and then stole a car was caught by police when he was seen driving the vehicle he had stolen.
George Wilson broke into a house on The Row on November 2 last year, stealing electrical items - which were later found outside his house.
The same day, he also broke into another house via the back door and stole a handbag which had car keys inside it.
He then fled the scene of the crime in the car using the keys he had snatched.
Wilson, 47, was arrested days later on November 4 when he was spotted by police driving around in the stolen car.
He tried to run away from police officers but was caught and arrested.
At Aylesbury Crown Court on Tuesday, May 4, he pleaded guilty to burglary, handling stolen good and aggravated vehicle taking.
He was jailed for 20 months.
Detective Inspector Pete Wall, based at Wycombe Police station, said: “I am satisfied that Wilson has been sentenced and admitted to his crimes.
“It cannot be underestimated the impact of someone entering your house and taking property can have.
“I hope that this case proves that we will investigate these type of crimes and bring offenders before the courts to justice.”
