A day nursery in Chesham has been named the best new business in Bucks.
The Little Ankle Biters' Awards has recognised Vikki Dasor and Nikki Wadhera, of Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery, among those who started their own business in the past two years.
The twins opened the nursery’s doors in Fullers Hill in January 2020, forcing to close just two months later as the pandemic struck in March, plunging the country into the first lockdown
They then reopened once lockdown restrictions lifted, working through the pandemic to provide daycare for babies and toddlers.
Little Ankle Biters is a free website with reviews of family friendly businesses, with all content written by local mums.
Hundreds of people across Bucks voted for their favourites in each category, with Monkey Puzzle taking the award for the county’s best new business.
Vikki and Nikki said: “We are absolutely elated to be the winner of ‘best new business – this was a new category for the Little Ankle Biters' Awards this year as they wanted to recognise those who have made the brave decision to have started their own business in the last two years.
“We were unfortunately forced to shut in March 2020 due to Covid-19, but this didn’t stop us and we continued to raise our profile online with local families to let them know we existed – and had all intentions to reopen our doors as soon as we could.
“We had support from our existing parents and children; they have a huge part to play in us still standing here today. Our biggest thank you is to them.”
Winners of the Little Ankle Biters’ Awards 2021 were announced at a virtual ceremony in April.
