A four-year-old boy had to be rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Gerrards Cross.
It happened at around 3.30pm on Friday in Moreland Drive.
The boy, who was a pedestrian, was hit by a grey Nissan X-trail.
He had to be taken to hospital with serious injuries and he is still there as of Monday morning.
Police investigating the crash want to hear from anyone who may have information that could help piece together what happened.
Investigating officer, PC John Belson of the Joint Operations Road Policing Unit, based at Amersham, said: “I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information, to please come forward.
“In particular, I would ask any motorists in the area at the time of the collision, who have dash-cams, to please check any footage in case it may have captured something that could assist with this investigation.
“I would also ask anyone who saw this happen to come forward and speak to us, if you haven’t done so already.
