This time last year we were in the throes of the pandemic, under a strict first lockdown with everything but essential shops closed and people warned not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary.
When Covid first hit the UK, hospital admissions shot up, with cases rising rapidly and people sadly dying from the virus.
NHS workers battled against the then-novel coronavirus outbreak, struggling to keep it under control as it spread across the country, amid PPE shortages and hospitals fighting to cope with demand.
Messages of support were pouring in for NHS staff, with millions of Britons clapping every Thursday for health and other key workers on the frontline of the fight against the virus.
People took to their doorsteps, balconies and windows to show their appreciation for the workers, while messages of gratitude appeared around the country in windows, on fields and via social media.
One such huge message of support was seen emblazoned on a Bucks field.
The NHS tribute, which showed the logo accompanied with an overlapping rainbow, was put together in Butler’s Cross.
Readers Ron and Dawn Woodhall, who spotted the message, sent in the picture to the BFP on April 21, 2020.
The tribute was located in a field adjacent to Ellesborough Golf Course and just to the north of Chequers.
