THE council has secured funding to overhaul the site of a sports centre in favour of new housing, as well as a medical and community centre, reports indicate.
Bucks Council will use One Public Estate (OPE) funding to “ascertain the potential” for a development at the Evreham Sports Centre, in Iver, according to council documents.
As part of the scheme, “development of a medical and community centre and housing” are being considered.

A youth centre, an “under-utilised” adult learning building, and a nursery will be relocated to “new, more efficient, bespoke spaces”, the report states.

The site currently houses a “failing council owned gym”, it adds.
A council document confirms a “feasibility study and massing exercise” is underway to “ascertain the potential” for the development.

It reads: “The site currently houses an under-utilised adult learning building and a failing council owned gym.
“All current community services (youth centre, adult learning, nursery) will be re-provided in new, more efficient, bespoke spaces.
“The project team will include leisure, education and youth services officers, CCG (Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group) and Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and will be led by major projects.”
A Bucks Council spokesman said: “We are at the early stages of an options appraisal which will look at re-providing and improving existing services as well as an element of residential development.
“No decisions have been made on existing building retention or demolition.”
