Marlow resident, Sir Andrew Strauss has urged people who have had a cough for three weeks or more that isn't COVID-19 to get checked after losing his wife to cancer.
The former England cricket captain described his wife Ruth as “unbelievably fit and healthy” and saying she had never smoked cigarettes before being diagnosed with lung cancer in early 2018.
Ruth died on December 29, 2018; she was 46 years old and mother to two children, then aged 10 and 13.

The Ruth Strauss Foundation was launched in memory of Ruth to provide emotional support for families to prepare for the death of a parent.
The foundation also raises awareness of the need for more research & collaboration in the fight against non-smoking lung cancer.
In the video, posted by Buckinghamshire CCG, he stressed that “anyone can get lung cancer” and that early diagnosis massively improves the chance of survival.
