Plans to convert a former doctors surgery in High Wycombe into nine new flats have been given the green light.
Wye Valley Surgery in Desborough Avenue, High Wycombe, was sold in 2019 amid concerns that it had 'outgrown the site'.
Since April 2019, the surgery has operated in Wycombe Hospital following the sale of the building.
The future of the site has now been decided, almost two years on.
A planning application which outlined the change of use to part commercial and part residential usage has been approved by the council.
One of the flats will be a three-bedroom property, six will be two-bedroom properties and the remaining two will be one-bedroom.
In order to accommodate the new properties, the existing roof will be raised and a part three storey, part two storey linked rear extension will be constructed.
Large bin storage has been proposed to the rear of the site for recycling bins for residential and retail use.
There has also been provisions made for bike storage.
Concerns had been raised over the suitability of the site for new properties due to the level of noise generated from the surrounding properties and traffic.
In the decision notice, clear instructions to cope with this noise were laid out.
Service Director of Planning & Environment Steve Bambrick wrote: "A sound insulation scheme shall be submitted to demonstrate the use of sound insulation between the flats hereby permitted, to protect the proposed development from noise caused by the adjacent businesses, and to protect the proposed development from noise caused by traffic along the Desborough Avenue."
