PLANS to tear down a hotel in favour of a new block of nine two-bedroom apartments have been submitted to the council.
Barar Homes Limited has submitted to Bucks Council an outline planning application for the demolition of Rye Court Hotel, on London Road, in High Wycombe, in favour of a new three-storey block of flats.
All properties will have two bedrooms, each with a “generously sized private balcony”, according to a council document.

In addition to the new apartments, “associated parking and servicing”, and a new vehicle access point are also proposed.
The hotel currently has 18 parking spaces, but could be reduced to nine, according to a report.
The demolition will also result in the loss of 17 hotel rooms on London Road.

In 2015, planning permission was refused for three houses and ten flats on the site, citing among other things: highway safety and design quality. It was appealed in 2016.
A design and access statement reads: “The proposal has overcome both the council and inspector’s earlier objections to the 2015 scheme and takes the opportunities available for improving the character and quality of the area whilst making efficient use of previously developed land in a sustainable location.”
It goes on to say the build “should be recommended for approval without delay”.
Barar Homes Limited is now ‘awaiting a decision’ from Bucks Council about this application.
