One of the earliest established chamber orchestras in the UK has taken up residency at The Elgiva theatre with three new, socially-distanced concerts on the horizon.

English Sinfonia and the Chesham-based theatre hope that the residency will “bring the community together in music, reminding us of the beauty and joy in which the performing arts can surround us, at a time when people have been “starved” of the arts due to the pandemic.

Chris Hopkins, the recently-appointed Principal Conductor of English Sinfonia, said: “I’m really excited to be returning to The Elgiva with English Sinfonia with this series of concerts signalling the start of a new residency.

Theatre manager David Cooper said: “I am beyond delighted to welcome such talent to The Elgiva stage; music has incredible power to bring people together, and we hope that the English Sinfonia residency will do just that, bringing our community closer together, while experiencing something truly beautiful.
