This week we show pictures taken in Wycombe Marsh of different events in the 1940s and 50s.
Some of the people shown in these pictures would probably have been amongst those families who moved to the Marsh in the early 1020s to live in the social housing built in Orchard St.
This area became known as “Tin Town”, being among the earliest form of social housing built in this country, see the main Nostalgia story.
This housing provided decent living accommodation for families after the first world war, the promised “Homes for Heroes”, replacing some of the pre-war slums.
