The gentleman, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: “Aircraft fly around here all the time because of RAF Halton and sometimes Chequers, but other than that, I didn’t take any notice.
“My neighbour phoned me up and asked if I had seen the police outside, but I was out the back and didn’t even notice they were here.
“So, I had a look out the front and I was surprised.

I am very sorry to hear this tragic and shocking news; my deepest condolences go to the gentleman's family and friends. I have spoken to the police and am reassured that there is no wider risk to the local community. @wendover_news https://t.co/JG4c1hAUHa

“I have been here for 30 years and I have never known anything like this, apart from the RAF Halton one [murder] all those years ago which hasn’t been solved, but this is very worrying for the youngsters.
“You have got to be so careful.
“I live on my own and I usually live at the back so I don’t go out the front at all, but maybe I should look out at the front more because stuff like this is a real shame.”
The resident also believes that due to the nature of the crime, children, and teenagers, who are currently off school due to the Easter Holidays, should be avoiding the area.
The crime happened next to Castle Park in the village, which has a football field as well as a jungle gym for children.

He continued: “If my children were out and about after hearing that a murder investigation has been launched, I would be a little bit more protective and make a few more rules and regulations.
“Years ago when I was a kid, you had the freedom of everything as you didn’t have the problems of today.
The man that died was 77-years-old
Awful, my husband and I saw the helicopter flying around and noticed it land near the playground. I’m so sorry to hear the gentleman passed away. My thoughts are with the family at this horrific time. There are no words 💔
