A High Wycombe man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving after driving the wrong way around the M25 to escape police.

It comes after a black Volkswagen Golf was spotted driving erratically in the Castlefield area of High Wycombe on February 12, with officers attempting to stop it.

But the driver, Husn Khan, 20, of Spearing Road, made off, with a police chase taking place on to the M40 heading towards London.

With the help of the National Police Air Service, the Golf was picked up trying to go back to High Wycombe.

The vehicle then failed to stop for a second time, leading officers on a 120mph pursuit along the M25.

Shockingly, the car then performed a U-turn and drove at speed across all four lanes, onto oncoming traffic.

The car then stopped, with the occupants arrested on the M4 slip road.

Officer in Case, PC Marcus Rose of High Wycombe Police Station said: “This is one of the worst examples of dangerous driving that I have witnessed.

“It is nothing short of a miracle that nobody was killed as a result of Mr Khan’s appalling decision making.

“I would like to extend my thanks to High Wycombe Stronghold, Team 3 and Team 4, the Roads Policing, the Dog Section and the ARV officers involved in this incident.

“Not only did they risk their lives attempting to stop the Golf from driving head on towards innocent members of the public but they also gathered key evidence to secure a conviction.

“The work of our colleagues from the National Police Air Service is invaluable as the video evidence proved key in the identification of the driver.”

Khan has been remanded in custody and is awaiting sentencing.
