THE council has been criticised for failing to clear a ditch full of fly-tipped rubbish stretching 100 metres – and for its online reporting system which allegedly closes unresolved cases leaving waste to build up for “years”.
Bucks Council has come under fire over “no action” taken to clear fly-tipping from Langley Park Road near Iver – and for confused responses from the FixMyStreet service which allegedly issues “case closed” notifications when the rubbish is “still there”.

One resident said they reported the Langley Park Road issue in January, which they claim has been there “months – years maybe”, before receiving a response saying the case had been shut and yet the rubbish had not been cleared.

They said FixMyStreet first issued an automated apology for a slow response due to the pandemic, before further “case closed” updates “on several occasions”.
They asked, ‘what is the council playing at?’.

“In my experience when one reports fly-tipping using FixMyStreet the first response is an advanced apology for slow follow up because of coronavirus,” they said.
“Later I have received on several occasions a follow up from FixMyStreet advising ‘case closed’.
“But here’s the thing. There has been no action and the fly-tipped rubbish is still there.”

They added: “There is for instance a whole ditch full of rubbish for about 100 metres on Langley Park Road on the Bucks side of the canal bridge.
“It has been there for months – years maybe. It has been reported and the ‘case is closed’, yet the rubbish is still there. It’s the same further along the road at a layby.
“So, what are Bucks Council playing at?”

Cabinet member for environment and climate change, Cllr Bill Chapple, said: “We are fully aware of the problems on Langley Park Road caused by significant waste crime.
“Unfortunately, the volume of dumping and its location next to a busy road means its removal isn’t straightforward, requiring our contractors to schedule the heavy equipment needed to undertake large-scale removal at a time when the necessary road lane closure will cause minimal disruption to traffic.
“Although this means that clear-up takes longer than it would for simpler incidents, we are working with the contractors to make sure that we can get the Langley Park Road dumping cleared as soon as possible.”
