Waddesdon Manor, Dashwood Mausoleum, and Pinewood Studios will join more than a hundred buildings and landmarks across England and Wales by lighting up purple to celebrate Census 2021.
The event is being organised by The Office for National Statistics (ONS) to raise awareness of census day on March 21. The census survey happens every ten years and gives a picture of all the people and households across the country.
Other iconic landmarks including the BT Tower in London and Blackpool Tower are signed up for the celebration, which will see them light up in the Census 2021 brand colour from Friday, March 19, through to Sunday, March 21.
The census helps inform the provision of public services throughout the UK, such as determining the appropriate number of school places and hospital beds that are needed to properly serve their communities.
Ross Tackley, Census Engagement Manager, said: “I am thrilled that three such iconic venues in Bucks are taking part by lighting up purple over the census weekend.
"The census is such an important undertaking that helps to shape our community, and so this is such a fantastic way to celebrate it across the county.”
Waddesdon Manor, built in 1874 by the Rothschild family; Dashwood Mausoleum in West Wycombe; and Pinewood Studios, the home of James Bond and the the Carry On films in Iver will all light up purple at night.
Andrew M Smith, Corporate Affairs Director at Pinewood Studios said: “This year marks the eighth census to have taken place in the 80 year history of Pinewood Studios. We are proud to show our support by lighting up our gates purple.”
And Tor Dashwood, from the Dashwood Estate, added: “The Dashwoods are delighted to support Census 2021. With such a fascinating history, the Mausoleum couldn’t be a more exciting building to light up.”
Every household in Buckinghamshire should now have received their census letters with unique access codes enabling them to complete the census online.
You should complete your census questionnaire by March 21 or as soon after.
Paper forms are available for those who need it, plus a range of other support.
If you need any help, or to request a paper form, you can visit www.census.gov.uk or call 0800 141 2021.
