PROPERTY extension plans that sparked concerns about “overlooking” and ‘harm to privacy’ have been approved.
Mr Saqib Mughal won conditional permission to demolish an existing side garage and store on a semi-detached property in Grenville Close, in Burnham, on Tuesday (March 16).
In their place he will build a single-storey front and part-single-and-part-two-storey side and rear extension.

Alterations for three parking spaces are also planned.
Previous applications in 2020 also mention a single-storey rear extension, and a loft conversion with a rear dormer and three front roof windows.
However, the dormer will not be permitted now the extensions are granted, according to council documents.
Cllr Paul Kelly called in the application with concerns about its “scale”, and “overlooking” on a neighbour.
Burnham Parish Council objected to the proposal citing “overdevelopment”, ‘smells from the kitchen’, ‘harm to the privacy’ of a neighbour, and “inadequate room for manoeuvring” on the drive.

Five other objectors cited “noise and disturbance during construction”, an “overbearing appearance”, and ‘conversion of the front garden parking being detrimental to the street scene’.

However, council officers said a neighbour “has a similar existing two-storey side extension” and that other homes in the area have been “extended and altered” – adding the design “would not be detrimental to the character of the area”.
They also contested claims of overdevelopment, and objections to the proposed hardstanding to the front of the property, saying: “A number of dwellings within the street scene have large amounts of hardstanding.”
The application was unanimously passed after a motion to approve was put forward by Cllr Santokh Chhokar and seconded by Cllr Roger Reed.
