A private school in north Bucks has submitted a planning application to refurbish its sixth form building.
Stowe School, which is based near Buckingham, submitted its plans on March 2 and if approved, the learning establishment could have the following works completed:
The addition of a lantern rooflight
- The addition of a louvred pergola on the southwestern side of the building
- The removal of an external double door on the western elevation (fitted in 2010 during previous alterations)
- The installation of a glazed bi-fold door and a single glazed door
The sixth form department is on the west side of the school and is a Grade II listed building, whilst other buildings on the site are listed as Grade I.

The plans that have been submitted state that once the works are completed, on the basis they are approved, the area, which also has a recreation and social centre, ‘will continue with internal alterations and minor changes to the exterior of the building.’
An excerpt from the application reads: “The proposal will provide an external seating area which will be well connected to the interior by the introduction of one bi-fold glazed door and one single glazed door to the western elevation.
“The proposed works will be minimal, retaining the original building as it is.
“The proposed refurbishment and alterations will provide the sixth form with a well lit and contemporary space, with outdoor seating.”
