A car ploughed over at least four graves in scenes that left cemetery visitors distraught this afternoon.
Qumar Aziz was visiting a loved one's grave at High Wycombe cemetery when he witnessed the shocking incident on Wednesday, March 10.
A driver in a silver Toyota had somehow managed to run over around four or five graves, causing major upset for families who were visiting relatives.
Mr Aziz, who filmed the aftermath of the incident, told the Bucks Free Press that sentimental items and flowers on graves were left broken and strewn across the ground.
He said: "This sort of thing has happened before but never as bad as this. Something needs to be done about it.
"You lay your loved one to rest and then something like this happens - it really hurts. It was so upsetting to see."
He has urged Buckinghamshire Council to take action and prevent anything like this happening again.
He said: "I tried to help but there was nothing I could do. It needs a raised kerb or some bollards put around it.
"No one would intentionally do this, it was probably an accident. Other people were telling them not to go down there.
"What was really upsetting was that people were walking over the graves and the car was trying to get out and damaging the graves. It was awful to watch.
"We all have families laid to rest there and regardless of race or religion, no one should have to deal with that."
Cllr Majid Hussain shared the video on his Facebook page, saying he would be recommending safety barriers are put in place.
He said: "I have been emailed a video this afternoon from a constituent who was in attendance at Wycombe Cemetery paying respect to a loved one they lost and witnessed this incident.
"It is sad to see this video and I would urge anyone attending a funeral, burial or even visiting someone you have lost please park your vehicles properly in allocated spaces at the entrance of the cemetery or on the road beside the graves not on any embankment as today four graves were driven on and damaged.
"I will be emailing the officer in charge of the cemetery to get a full report on the damage and recommending safety barriers are placed to help with not repeating this type of incident again."
