A Bucks town has been named among the happiest to live in in the south east.

High Wycombe came in at number four in the region, behind Tonbridge, in Kent, Guildford, in Surrey and Winchester, in Hampshire.

Property website Rightmove found residents in the town are among the happiest in the region, after it looked at ten factors ranging from how friendly the neighbours are and how good the local services are, to the sense of belonging and the quality of nature and green spaces in the area.

A Rightmove spokesman said: “With a bustling town centre and fantastic transport connections all just minutes from the stunning countryside of the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty (AONB), it is clear to see why this popular town, that has it all, has topped the list.”

The average price for a house in High Wycombe is £354,830 according to Rightmove, which is six per cent up on this time in 2019 and four per cent up on the 2017 peak of £340,697.

The online real estate portal also said sales in High Wycombe during the last year were semi-detached properties, selling for an average price of £370,869.

Flats sold for an average of £203,089, with terraced properties fetching £352,733.
