Aldi unveils plans to open new store on site of former Jaguar showroom

Aldi has unveiled “exciting plans” to open a store in Amersham.

The supermarket giant is looking to open a store on the site of the former Jaguar dealership in London Road West, between the A413 and A355.

Amersham residents have received a feasibility study from Aldi, which says: “A new store would provide local people with easier access to our popular, high quality, great value offer.

“The proposal will enhance local shopping choice, reduce the need to travel and create at least 40 new jobs.”

Five Guys High Wycombe confirm opening date

American burger chain Five Guys have confirmed that their High Wycombe branch will open their doors on March 15.

It will only be available for take-away initially as customers will be able to order at the till for takeaway, or online for Click & Collect, Deliveroo or Curbside.

Located in Cressex, the burger chain has replaced Frankie & Benny's which shut down last year.

'Harmful' demolition project for new homes wins approval - despite resistance

The demolition of a group of buildings on a ‘mixed use agricultural site’ in favour of two new homes has been permitted – despite claims it will ‘harm the surrounding area’. 

Mr and Mrs Norris and St John Homes (Thames Valley) Ltd won full planning permission to bulldoze and remove the existing buildings and hardstanding on a plot of land near Chalkshire Road, in Butler’s Cross.

AGREED: ‘New college campus’ and 60 ‘affordable housing’ units in High Wycombe

Two major redevelopment projects that include a “new college campus” and dozens of affordable housing units have been approved for High Wycombe.

Buckinghamshire Council has agreed to dispose the freeholds of Collins House, on Desborough Road, and 30-34 Oxford Road in deals that will transform the two vacant sites.

Buckinghamshire College Group have offered to buy the Oxford Road freehold to consolidate their Amersham and Flackwell Heath campuses in Wycombe town centre.

'He should know better': Councillor gets permission for conservatory he already started building

A Bucks councillor who sought permission for a new conservatory which he had already started building has been criticised by a colleague who said he “should know better”.

Cllr Tony Lee said he found it “a little bit unsatisfactory” that Cllr Majid Hussain was seeking full planning permission for a single-storey rear conservatory when the structure “appears to be two-thirds built”.

The application pertains to a two-storey end terrace on Spearing Road, in High Wycombe, and includes plans for some steps leading to the garden.
