Wycombe Wanderers lost their second game on the bounce as an Andre Gray double saw Watford go level on points with second-placed Brentford in the Championship.
Gray scored in each half as the Hornets came out comfortable 2-0 winners at Vicarage Road.
The first came from Kiko Femenia cross from the right-hand which Gray fired in from close range.
And even though Wycombe put the hosts on the back foot at the start of the second half, they were unable to create an opportunity with their possession.
A swift counter-attack from Watford in the 57th minute saw Gray get his second of the night and seal all three points for the Hornets.
Wycombe boss, Gareth Ainsworth, said: “We didn’t do ourselves justice enough tonight.
“I’m disappointed that we were below par away at Watford, one of the top teams in this league.
“You are going to get punished.
“They’ve got some tremendous talent in this team, some really good players.

Wanderers welcomed back Daryl Horgan, Joe Jacobson, and Ryan Tafazolli into the starting 11, but it was Andre Gray that stood out for the Chairboys boss.
He continued: “The likes of Andre Gray coming is phenomenal.
"They can put in him just from the reserves.
“It shows the strength and depth in this league.
“It shows the gulf especially at the top end of the table.
“We will be fighting again on Saturday and I will be picking the boys tomorrow but today we just fell short.”
