For a quiet village, Penn Street really does manages to pull out all the stops for an impressive line-up for PennFest.
Tens of thousands of revellers descend on the village very year for the spectacular festival that has seen the likes of Razorlight, Craig David, Peter Doherty, Happy Mondays and Peter Andre entertain.
The pandemic put paid to large public gatherings, with festivals across the country cancelled or postponed.
But, following Boris Johnson’s roadmap announcement this week, PennFest has announced new dates for July, with headline act Rag n Bone Man still due to headline over the two days, and notable musicians, including Ella Eyre, Razorlight and Sigma, also set to perform.
And, as PennFest prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary – albeit a year later than planned – we’ve delved into our archives to take a look back at the festival over the years.

In a Facebook post, PennFest organisers said: “Following Monday’s news, we are thrilled to be able to say that PennFest will be going ahead as planned on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th July 2021.
“Tickets are on sale and there’s plenty of time to sort out your party outfit, as that’s what PennFest is going to be – a huge party to celebrate us all being back together doing what we love.”
