THE TEMPORARY closure of a car park for drainage works has prompted calls to rid the area of graffiti at the same time – a cause one local claims to have pursued for “many months”.
When Chiltern Railways notified locals about “essential drainage works” at Duke Street car park in High Wycombe which would take more than a week, one resident urged Buckinghamshire Council to use the time to remove graffiti from the area as well.
The car park near the station will be closed to vehicles between February 22 and March 3.

RESIDENT: 'Have a word would you, Chiltern Railways?'
“Perhaps Buckinghamshire Council could remove the graffiti on their property at the same time?” one person wrote on Twitter.
“Have a word would you, Chiltern Railways? I’ve reported it three times…and got nowhere, sadly.”
They claimed to have first noticed the graffiti “at least four months ago”.

When the council urged them online to report the matter via FixMyStreet, they replied: “I’ve tried that. And phoning it in. Sadly, it hasn’t worked.
“Hopefully Buckinghamshire Council will do the right thing and pass this to the appropriate officer with a kind request to remove it after many months of respectfully asking.”
“Pull your finger out @BucksCouncil”, tweeted another resident.
In an online response on February 23, the council tweeted: “Thank you for making us aware of this. I have followed this up with our waste team who deal with street cleaning issues and will get this looked at.”
Buckinghamshire Council was approached for further comment.
