A tennis club in Bucks has picked up two accolades in the Lawn Tennis Association’s British Tennis Awards 2021.
Lacey Green and Loosley Row tennis club have been awarded the ‘Buckinghamshire Club of the Year’ after demonstrating support and engagement with members and the wider community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Head coach Dan Smith was also awarded the ‘Buckinghamshire Development Coach of the Year’ in recognition of the coaching programme he has developed, offering a variety of sessions for all ages and standards.

On receiving news of the awards, Dan said: “I’m absolutely thrilled! I never thought I would receive this award, and to win ‘Club of the Year’ too shows that we must be doing the right things.
“Nigel Glenister, the chair of Lacey Green and Loosley Row Tennis Club, and I hope this is just the beginning for the club and look forward to getting back on the court again, hopefully very soon.”
Those awarded are judged from more than 2,000 public nominations, resulting in 380 county award winners who are then put forward for regional awards.
Nigel added: “We’re absolutely delighted to win these awards.
“They are recognition of the progress the club has made over the past few years.”
Over the past five years, the club has upgraded its facilities including the resurfacing of all three courts and the installation of LED floodlighting on two courts.
These improvements have led to considerable growth in membership that also resulted in the expansion of the car park in 2020.
There are plans to floodlight the third court later in 2021.

The club’s coaching programme offers sessions for all ages, from toddlers to older adults, with a variety of classes including doubles drills, technique workshops and cardio tennis, a popular fitness-based session.
The club added ‘Walking Tennis’ to its programme in 2020, the first club in Buckinghamshire to do so, which offers people with reduced mobility or long-term injuries the chance to play tennis at a slower pace.
