Marlow primary school are virtually travelling to Rome for charity

For the fundraising event, St Peter's Catholic Primary pupils have already recorded the distance to get to Rome and are now working on the route back.

Miles can be recorded through walking, scooting, running, or cycling and added to the school's overall total.

Donations are being made to a Just Giving Page and the school has currently raised over £1,200, four times the school’s target of £300.

To launch the project, teachers planned a wide range of opportunities to enhance learning through Geography, Literacy, and Maths activities that the children completed as part of their remote learning

With the restrictions of lockdown, teacher Jennifer Boyle hopes the charity event can bring the community together whilst keeping people active.

She said: “We are excited to be working together towards the same goal whilst we are all still physically apart due to lockdown.

“We hope that by logging our daily exercise, we will be encouraging people to keep active, at the same time as raising money for our school.”

The school will be clocking up the miles as they virtually travel back through Lourdes, on to Fatima, Portugal, continuing to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, before catching the ferry from Santander to Plymouth.

The school has opened up the challenge to the community with members of St Peter's Church taking part.

Anyone else who would like to help the pupils on their virtual trip to Rome can submit miles they record using here.
