CALLS for a “nightmare” patch of road to be properly repaired have sounded after a “deep hole” appeared following bad weather.
Residents have criticised the ‘patch job’ done on Cokes Lane in Little Chalfont following icy conditions, claiming the entire area needs to be properly resurfaced.

A warning by one concerned resident went out on social media last week telling drivers to be vigilant: “The recent weather has seen a massive deterioration of Cokes Lane in Little Chalfont village centre. Be careful not to drive into the deep hole,” they wrote.

Soon after, other messages came in.
“Sadly, that’s the problem – temporary ‘patch in’ jobs where they tip in some hot tar and pat it down with a spade like a kid making a mud pie,” someone wrote.
“First time you get a hard freeze after rain or snow, it’s just a pile of gravel.
“I thought they’d stopped doing that since it all goes to pot so fast in cold weather and were gradually getting round to doing it properly. Clearly not.”
One person claimed the newly-made hole had damaged their wheel, posting a picture into the conversation. “It got me last night,” they wrote.

Others commented on Cokes Lane itself being an ongoing problem.
“That’s after they’ve temporarily filled some holes, that corner has been a nightmare,” wrote someone.
“Needs to be properly resurfaced. That part has always been the same,” wrote someone else.
In response, Buckinghamshire Council leader Cllr Martin Tett wrote online: “For anyone in the Little Chalfont area the top of Cokes Lane is down for resurfacing as soon as the weather allows this Spring. Currently temporarily repaired.”
