EXCITING developments across three leisure centres in Bucks have been revealed.
Buckinghamshire Council has offered a sneak peek at works happening at leisure centres in Chalfont and Chesham – and given an update on a new state-of-the-art community facility in Amersham.

The new facility will feature a modern leisure centre which has a large gym, an eight-lane 25-metre pool with viewing and a diving pool alongside a kids’ “splash pad area”.

There will also be a four-badminton court sports hall, squash courts, exercise studios, spa and a new climbing wall.
The centre will also have a café, nursery, and a new, fully accessible library.
The authority said the building is now watertight, the roof is finished, and window installations are also underway.

“We are very fortunate that Covid-19 hasn’t impacted on the progress of the build to date,” said cabinet member for sports and leisure, Clive Harriss.
“Our contractors, officers and key partners are all working really hard to deliver this project whilst at the same time continuing to follow government guidance so that everyone working on site can stay safe. We are also very grateful to our local residents for their patience while the works continue, as some disruption is inevitable on projects of this size.”

Renovations by the council in conjunction with Everyone Active at Chalfont Leisure Centre and Chesham Leisure Centre have also recently been completed, said Cllr Harriss.

Both centres now have bigger and improved gyms, new group cycle studios with curved wall-to-wall immersive screens, and larger group exercise studios.
“We also have our first PRAMA studio at Chesham Leisure Centre which offers a unique experience where the room itself becomes part of the training, with interactive floors and walls, motivational music, LED lights and multimedia projections to suit a range of ages and abilities” said Cllr Harriss.

He added: “I am delighted to confirm that we now have work underway to replace the old pool at Chalfont Leisure Centre, which has structural damage. We will keep residents updated on reopening dates once confirmed.”
