Mosques in High Wycombe will be suspending their congregational services temporarily because of Covid-19.
In a statement on Thursday, January 21, the Wycombe Islamic Mission & Mosque Trust said it was with a “heavy heart” they had to announce the suspension of Jummah prayers from today, Friday, January 22.
The Trust said: “All the mosques in High Wycombe have had exemplary Covid-19 secure settings and have worked tirelessly to maintain all the necessary protocols in place to keep their worshippers safe.
"We are aware the disproportionate effective the Covid-19 crisis has had on the Muslim community in High Wycombe, hence with this consideration and following the requests made from Buckinghamshire Council, it’s with a heavy heart that the following mosques and education centres have decided to suspend Jummah prayers from the 22nd January 2021."
Jubilee Road, Townfield, Castlefield and Micklefield Mosque will all be shut, as will the Jamia Rehmania Educational and Cultural Trust in Castlefield.
Wycombe Islamic Society and the Muslim Education Centre in Totteridge have also suspended all Friday gatherings until further notice.
The decision will be reviewed in two weeks.
