A teacher from Marlow will offer free art classes for children to raise money for Bliss, a charity for babies that are born prematurely or sick.

Jacqui Newell sadly lost her twin daughters in her third trimester of pregnancy in 2010 due to a rare condition called twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.

Classes start this Saturday [January 23] and will be hosted from Marlow Bottom via Zoom where children will learn how to make a ‘Robot Collagraph’.

This isn’t the first time Jacqui has raised money for Bliss as she has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and has crossed from Norway into Sweden by husky, camping in subzero conditions for the chairty.

Overall Jacqui has raised over £25,000 for Bliss and her next initiative looks to give back to the community by hosting online classes for children.

Whilst in lockdown parents and pupils are coming to terms with remote teaching and Jacqui who is the mother of two boys understands the stress home learning can have.

She said: “I’m a mum with two boys so the whole difficulty of home learning has been incredibly tough.

“I kind of realised there is a need to give back to the community a little bit.

“Working families are finding it very difficult to provide a bit of creativity and time for the kids.

“I thought this was a lovely opportunity to give back to the community and do something fun for the kids on a Saturday morning and give a little bit of a release to parents.

“I decided to set up a free charity event and we will just be doing an hour zoom call and the kids will be creating a robot collagraph.

“All I’m asking for is a tiny donation to bliss but really it’s an opportunity to bring the community together and a bit of fun.”

All you need is: white paper, a cereal box, scissors, wax crayons, some glue.
