A SERIOUS warning has been issued by a leading health body in Bucks, notifying people about a fake text message offering the Covid-19 vaccine.
A “dangerous” text telling people they are eligible to apply for their ‘NHS vaccination’ has been condemned by Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, after leading review and advice website Which? Conversation branded it a fake.
Which? became aware of the scam after it was reported by one of its members who was concerned about certain spelling mistakes and requests for bank details, consistent with phishing campaigns.
The company has warned people to remain vigilant and tell friends and family.

The text reads: “NHS: We have identified that your are eligible to apply for your vaccine,” before offering a link on how to “apply”.
People are then directed to an “extremely convincing fake NHS website” asking for various personal details to ‘check your identity’, according to Which? Conversation editor, George Martin.
Cold calls relating to the vaccine are also beginning to happen, he added.

Bucks Healthcare Trust wrote online: “A dangerous fake NHS text has been circulating, telling people they’re eligible to apply for the #COVIDvaccine.
“@WhichUK have some helpful advice to avoid being caught out.”
“Scammers are looking to exploit the most vulnerable and worried. Make sure your loved ones are aware,” Which? said.
Which? advises people to hang up if someone asks you to pay for the vaccine over the phone, to notify your bank if you think you have been scammed, and to warn others about the fake text.
