Four years ago, the £25 million Wycombe Leisure Centre officially opened to the public.
It replaced the old Wycombe Sports Centre and dozens of people queued outside on January 5, 2016, for a first glimpse of the new Wycombe landmark in Handy Cross.
Wycombe District Council chairman Cllr Ian McEnnis cut the ribbon outside the main entrance to the leisure centre at 10am, ushering in a “new era for sport in Wycombe”.
The leisure centre development was the first phase of the Handy Cross Hub project, which also now has a Waitrose supermarket and the High Wycombe Coachway plus park-and-ride.
The historic Wycombe Sports Centre closed its doors for the last time after 40 years on December 19, 2015.
